Union Cougars Varsity stole the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Pine View on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with Union Cougars Varsity batting in the top of the eighth when #26 induced Lepeka Lutui to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Union Cougars Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Pine View to score three runs in the second inning. Pine View’s big inning was driven by a walk by #6 and a double by #28.
Pine View got on the board in the first inning when #28 singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the sixth inning, Union Cougars Varsity tied things up at five when an error scored one run for Union Cougars Varsity.
Allie Earl was the winning pitcher for Union Cougars Varsity. She allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
