Multiple Teams · Winter Sports Heating Up!

Last week was a good one for all of our athletes at UHS. Our Girls basketball team was able to come away with Back to Back region victories. They were able to beat Juab at home on Tuesday in a close game 31-30, before going on the road Thursday to dominate Maeser Prep 45-15. The Boys Basketball team also picked up their first region win over Maeser Prep at home on Friday 58-51. The Boys spread out the scoring and the balanced attack seemed to work with three players putting up double digit points and one player getting double digit rebounds. The Wrestling team hosted a tough team from ALA on Thursday night falling in a dual that had a lot of good matches. That however was just the start of a long weekend for the Cougars on the mat as they traveled to Vernal for the Tournament of Champions. We had 5 Place in the top 8 at the tournament. Jory Jenkins Placed 5th, Dallon Farrer placed 8th, Wyatt Richards placed 7th, Cadence Ross placed 8th, and TJ Mckissack placed 4th. As a team we scored 75 points and ended up in 13th place which is an improvement on last year. We wrestled very well this weekend and our JV took 4th in the JV tournament as well posting an impressive 117 points. The Cougarettes Drill team also competed this weekend at the Bountiful Invitational and once again danced very well. Irylan Tomlinson placed 1st in 3A Contemporary, Halle Eschler placed 1st in 3A lyrical, and Ashlyn Riding placed 2nd in 3A lyrical. The Team placed 2nd Overall due to a penalty that hurt their score. They placed 2nd in Military, 1st in Dance, and 2nd in Character. All in all it was a great week to be a Cougar! We Are UC!!!
